1. Our commitment
HouseComply is committed to making our website and application accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We believe that property compliance tools should be usable by everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology.
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA where reasonably practicable. This is the international standard for accessible digital content, and is the standard against which the UK Government measures accessibility for public-sector services.
2. What we do
To support accessibility, we:
- use semantic HTML and meaningful page structure;
- provide sufficient colour contrast in text and key interface elements;
- use clear, plain language wherever possible;
- ensure keyboard navigation works for the core flows of our website;
- include descriptive alt text and ARIA labels on meaningful images, icons and SVG mockups;
- scale type readably across screen sizes;
- review accessibility regularly as part of our development process.
3. Known limitations
We are aware of the following accessibility limitations and are working to address them:
- The interactive compliance calculator on the homepage relies on sliders and number inputs that may not be optimally usable on all screen readers. We are reviewing alternative input methods.
- Some illustrative product mockups (the SVG screenshots in the "How HouseComply works" section) are decorative; we provide descriptive alt text but the detailed visual content is not currently exposed line-by-line to assistive technology.
- The application at app.housecomply.co.uk is in active development. Our accessibility commitments apply to it equally, but some flows are still being reviewed and refined.
4. Telling us about accessibility problems
If you find a part of our website or application that is difficult to use, we want to know. Please contact us:
By post: CCP Project Enablement Ltd, Las-Fach, New Mill, Caerfyrddin, SA33 4HY, United Kingdom
Please tell us:
- the page or feature where you encountered the issue;
- what you were trying to do;
- what assistive technology (if any) you were using;
- your preferred way for us to get back to you.
We aim to respond within 5 working days.
5. Enforcement
HouseComply is a private commercial service. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply directly to us. However, the Equality Act 2010 prohibits service providers from discriminating against disabled persons. If you believe we are failing to meet our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, you can take this up with us first using the contact details above, and if not satisfied, with the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
6. How we test this site
We test accessibility through a combination of:
- automated checks during development (using tools such as axe-core and Lighthouse);
- manual keyboard-navigation testing;
- review against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria;
- user feedback from the channels above.
7. Changes to this statement
We will update this Accessibility Statement as our website and application evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent material change.
